Pipers' Trail
The
entire school was lucky enough to experience the Pipers' Trail on
19th June. The Pipers' Trail is a musical extravaganza taking
place this summer providing a piping and drumming journey the length
and breadth of Scotland. The intention of the Pipers' Trail is to
provide, through the medium of bagpipe music and highland drumming an
interest in traditional Scottish music, public performance and other
cultural events while showcasing the virtues of teamwork, individual
excellence and a proper focus on collective endeavour.
On
the Thursday morning, classes from primary ages P5 to P7 were treated
to shows of piping and drumming. A couple of pupils were given a
hands-on opportunity to place the pipes and drums. In the
afternoon, the whole school saw Jamie's Story, a play in which Jamie
embarks on a journey of discovery. The journey took Jamie towards
the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow and on his travels, he
learns lessons for life - from accepting people for who they are,
dealing with the realities of life and core values such as courage,
discipline, respect, integrity, loyalty and selfless commitment.
The play was supported musically by several pipers and drummers
and the whole event was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
