We started this week by
looking at the Chinese New Year.
One of our pupils
brought in lots of beautiful Chinese items to help us
celebrate the Year of the Ox.
Mrs Hancock has been
looking at symmetry. Do you think this pattern is
symmetrical?
We were learning to make
observations of our investigation.
We added some water to
an alka seltzer in a film cannister.
Some of us gave it a
stir.
We put the lid on
next.
What do you think
happened next? I will give you a clue - we had to
stand well back!
Then we shared our
observations with the rest of the class.
We are always practising
our times tables.
Each week we get a
little bit faster.
We wrote poems based the
count down to a rocket launch.
The rest of the class
helped us perform our poems.
We had been listening to
real astronuats talk about how they felt during
launch.
Some people in the class
still want to be astronauts when they grow up!
We tried to use lots of
brilliant adjectives.
In maths we learned how
to read bar charts and used a website called
Education City to practise reading the charts.
As it was the end of the
Solar System project we had a fun quiz to test our
knowledge based on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The
Soviet team won a million pounds!
During gym we played
cats and mice. Everyone wanted to be a cat.
We had to practise
touching our toes if we got caught.
Some of the girls played
in a netball tournament at the weekend. There are two
girls missing from the photograph. They all did very
well against some fierce competition.
